Well the biggest "flaw" with it for consoles to overcome is that Steam does not charge a license fee for 3rd party key activations. This means that you may never have seen $5 games on Xbox like you do on steam because Xbox does charge a license fee but it still would have resulted in cheaper games overall.

Of course it's not very hard to beat a 1 year old used game selling for $28 and the new copy of that same game selling for $50-$60 still like at Gamestop.

And I can't really see why anyone would think that MS wouldn't continue to screw people over with their digital pricing. It works both ways.

Publishers could do something really crazy like making games customers would want to keep.
