Or run excavator, where the scientist and crate loot is better than actually holding and mining

I think we're talking about something similar. I like posting up close to a quarry where they have the powered excavator that mines stone with just low grade fuel

Yeah they have regular quarries but there's also the excavator monument. Basically a quarry on steroids. You put in diesel and it mines whatever you want. You really need 2-3 to do it though.

You have to have a full map size for it. I think 4500 is minimum now.

I think it's a cool game, but i don't play mouse/keyboard, so it sits in my steam list.
It is cool that Ramseyii is coming back to rust, and streaming on twitch while also making videos again.
He was best youtuber for rust, Weyln kind of took that torch and is becoming top rust youtuber and streamer.
Don't believe the hype on recent popularity, when top streamers(twitch) get bored, they will stop playing it like the plague. Wonder if they are getting $$ from facepunch?
Of all the games created in past 5+ years, it is top dog when it comes to studio keeping it up to date. Facepunch still updates, bans cheaters, and game bans the worst cheaters. And updates the shite out of it with new content.

They are absolutely getting paid but a couple of them AND newer players on the game are saying the game isn't near as bad as they thought it was. Myth appears to be enjoying the shite out of it and Shroud seems to be genuinely having a good time with hjune. It will definitely die down but I think you're going to see new life breathed into it going forward. They've implemented a couple of new anti-cheat systems that will be global across all the bigger servers and smaller ones can sign up as well.

2019 was rough but they still tried a ton of new content and the 2nd half of last year was INSANELY good. Can't wait to see what happens going forward.

Server is running great for me. Big arse map gonna take some getting used to but it's solid performance wise.

At the end of the day, this is a combat game. The problem is that they have too many survival game elements so some people get pulled in thinking it is a survival game when it isn't.
You can spend 1000 hours building a base and someone good at the game can smash all of your defenses and rob you blind or even better steal the base.
And given the persistent nature, they can wait for you to go to sleep and wreck your life.
And even you server had people breaking the rules and they broke into my base and looted me good.
