Honest to god question. Why the hate for the game?

it's not fun and the story isn't worth the time investment. first kojima game i really just didnt like
does it have a few good scenes? sure. but it's very self-indulgent and nonsensical as a whole and the gameplay is just a complete drag

Love Kojima games. I could not play more than two sittings of this game. And it only got the 2nd sitting because I wanted to give it another chance.
