Yeah - at the bonfire I'm at. I can climb the ladder up to the bridge where the Hellkite is.

There's also an elevator in the church that goes back to firelink shrine. You can get 10 flasks from firelink and try and clear the church. It's easier than running through the enemies in the parish. Or you could take a right at the church and light the bonfire close to the blacksmith. It's also important to upgrade your weapon to at least +2 before the boss.

I actually just started a brand new DS2 run myself. Scholar of the First Sin edition. The original was fricking easy. SotFN saved DS2 IMO.

Kindled the bonfire, made it to the blacksmith, repaired and reinforced Ug, killed that big arse knight in the church, opened the elevator shortcut back to Firelink, and reinforced my estus flask.
