This thread encouraged me to try the game again.
I initially got it more than a year ago.
There was no real keyboard support built in, so I had to do a lot of work just to get the keys to work.
I could make it to the chamber guardian after the 1st bonfire.
I got a controller but then all keybindings messed that up. I eventually got it to work, but I died easily at the chamber guardian.
I was like, forget it.
But after reading this thread, I decided to play it again. Started yesterday. I beat the chamber guardian the first time dropped on him then faced him on the ground level!
I made it to that sky tower! Lordan! There's cool skeletons! I'm glad to know there's more to this game!

I would never even attempt a souls game with keyboard and mouse

Finished up w/ the depths. Headed to Darkroot Garden now.
I gotta say, Gaping Dragon is one of the cooler looking enemies in the game, but he is such a weak fight.

Still in Lordan.
Man, these levels area crazy! Not that they are hard, but the aren't linear. It's like the bonfire is in the middle of the place and then I have to decide if I go one way or another.
I've been leveling up.
I lost 700 souls by dying then falling and dying trying to retrieve them.
One time I noticed a NPC take a hit...thought it was curious.
After leveling up and having like 50 souls to spare I decided to attack the NPC...
And he hates me now. I can't spawn without him going after me! I can take him on in a battle for some time, but he is wayyyy more powerful than me. My best blows only get him 20-25 HP down.
I have to run away backwards to get away!

Everything is connected.

Oh, no. I understand the level.
It's just that I've never dealt with an open area layout like this...only in a dungeon.

Just beat O&S, frick them, frick them to hell, and frick them again just for the frick of it
Super O wasn't too bad once I just unlocked from him, I get so dependent on "lock" that I forget, on some fights, especially huge bosses, it's easier just not to lock. (I hadn't been for the duo-fight) - the only thing Super O was hitting me on was that stupid lightning spear stab with the retarded hit box, so I had him unlocked that last time and jumped through his legs instead of dodging to the side or back... and voila, I beat him first try without getting hit once.
P.S: I have also officially put down the shield and have gone 100% 2 handing the Uchi, it just feels more natural after so much DS2 and Bloodborne

Uchi is OP. I still use it on a NG+++ character and it still wrecks face.
I'm thinking about quitting my job and becoming a Souls youtuber. I have three subs right now, I figure I can double that by spring - then open my Patreon.

Nice, that's a fun fight and a good one to teach you positioning and timing for what you are going to face ahead.
Good luck in Sen's Fortress... I hate it probably more than any other areas in the game... but it also gives me the second biggest amount of satisfaction when I complete it as well.

I'm messing around with a str build that uses the man-serpent greatsword. I wrecked the Golem with a few hits and he fell off the side. Managed to down biggie smalls on the first go, surprising since I'm terrible with str weapons.

Remember how much I hate Stray Demon.

I am at a part right now in Lordan where I can go to the graveyard and beat a miniboss.
I can go to the parapet part of the castle and beat a pig demon.
Or I can try and beat a cool-arse looking black knight that is guarding some treasure (probably).
Or I could go to a cool arse night map on a lake with ghost/banshees that I have no idea how to kill.
They are doing all the can to keep me from progressing. I can beat the boss in the graveyard...given more attempts.
All I can do now, is just grind I think. I am upping vitality and whatever is the thing that controls endurance for swinging weapons and weapon strength. I am a warrior.
Is that enough to get me out of Lordan?
I like grinding though. Although I know where the bad guys are, I'm still learning new ways to beat them. I used to just hit shields of bad guys and then kite them. Now, I figured out moves to beat them in 1 to 2 hits. I go between longsword and axe, and shield and pike.
