He's also either terrible at the game or full of shite, whichever way you want to take it. There's not a death in the game where you say "damn I need to level up" instead of "damn maybe I shouldn't stand under that hammer." More power helps but is in no way required, especially to the point where you have to grind.
As per the OP, I have it preordered. Can't wait. Getting it for 360 to see how the network interface works compared to PS3's for Demon Souls. It'll be great to die repeatedly again.

I know people who can tackle most of the game with a soul level 1 Barbarian just by being proficient at hit-and-roll-out-of-the-way.
It's unnecessary because there are easy grinding spots in the game, but reflex is the most important determinant of how you will fare.

I think I'm in outside of gears 3 and me 3, I'm tired of sequels. Give me something new and original.

This wolf is going to F*ck me up.

That wolf is going to frick up the third guy playing with me. Me and my friend always roll together and try to pick up a third person who acts as bait.

Why is this game not getting any hype? I thought Demon Souls got great reviews and the sequel should be even better. IGN has said anything in a while about this game. I guess they didn't pay enough marketing to get thrown in with all the big boys that are coming out in the next 2 months.

Sony has been doing a VERY bad job at advertising their games.
Resistance 3 got awful sales numbers and its no surprise that Dark Souls is getting the same treatment.
It is going multiplat, so Sony could have done some sort of DLC deal or at least something to advertise.
TBH though, this game is liked by a pretty small audience compared to the big games coming out soon. Still, it is honestly one of the best RPGs I have ever played, so they need to do something.

The Japanese stream of the game looks beautiful and extremely hard.

Yeah, i can't wait man. I was looking at he classes and I think I'll try out a pyromancer to begin with.

quote:
Warrior: A fearless warrior and weapons expert with high strength, dexterity.
Knight: You start as a low ranking knight with high HP and solid armor. You're not easily toppled.
Wanderer: The aimless wanderer has high dexterity. He/She wields a scimitar.
Thief: Guilt-ridden, the thief deals high critical hits and has a Master Key.
Bandit: Savage, but with high strength, the bandit wields a battle axe.
Hunter: The hunter wields a bow and arrows; perfect for close-range combat. However, this class is vulnerable to magic.
Sorcerer: Trained at the Dragon School, they cast soul sorcery.
Pyromancer: They are armed with a hand axe and can cast fire spells.
Cleric: The cleric casts healing miracles and wields a mace.
Deprived: The deprived class starts the game with only a club and plank shield. He has no clothes.
Who's going to start the depraved class

Starts off with a loin cloth to be exact
I'll be rolling knight on 360, I think you have to be within ~5 levels of each other to be eligible to co-op (and of course one person has to be dead). I'm definitely looking for teammates.

First time I read about that class I was wondering, is this a joke? Or is that the class for only the most hard-core of Dark Souls players. I can't see any benefit to selecting deprived.

At first glance, Deprived seems like a Barbarian-esque class for advanced players who are adept at dodging and want to start with high offensive attributes.
