Going to hi-jack the thread a little. I bought Demon's Souls a long time ago in some bargain bin type set-up. Played 20 minutes of it and tried to riposte everything, ended up not liking it. Worth trying to start up again?
i didnt parry once in my first playthough of dark souls
try again

Yeah, the snipers. Bad enough with a sniper on a thin walkway. He's gotta be a strong arse giant knight with a spear cannon?!?! Fml
The trick is to be fast and agile. Look itup on Youtube and they have tons of videos on this particular part. Its aggrivating but once its over, bam, its over and there is a bonfire.

I just hate that it takes 100% precision to execute that strategy properly.
The slightest of frick ups = dead.
Most areas have a slight margin of error, at least.

Where are you talking about the snipers? Are you talking about the ones in Anor Londo before you get to Ornstein & Smough?
If you are ... one way to get by those guys easily is if your strong enough get a massive shield, like Havel's Shield or Tower Shield and just have that out in block and just run up the path until your right next to the snipers and just push them off the edge ... simple and easy.

I probably need more strength. I haven't even seen those shields before. I'm probably going to leave for a minute and come back after I go back thru some areas and level up some strength and other things.
I usually don't do this, but I'm thinking of starting a new character and probably not doing an NG+. I'm not really sure yet. The more I play, the more I enjoy it and they story is actually really good when you can start to piece it together. I think this may be a game where I have multiple playthrus.
Until DSII releases that is. I'll be all
and then I'll start playing be like
and then shoved off a cliff with 40k souls and be all

I usually don't but with me starting new again this time this will be my fourth technically and I never got any of those to NG+ I just got to the woods and began trying to kill other players or help other people to level up ... I kinda wanted to be a darkwraith.

Is that the big bastard with the clud around the Taurus Demon tower?
Posted on 2/22/13 at 10:39 am to SaintLSUnAtl
Yup. That's him.
His shield won't help much in this instance because it's inside te building the snipers are guarding.
It also requires an absurd amount of strength to wield properly.

yup I think so and he has a badass ring that allows you to have more strength and carry more wait I believe.
quote:
Effects
>Boosts maximum equip load by 50%.
Location
>Obtained after defeating Havel The Rock in the shortcut between Undead Burg and Darkroot Basin, that can be accessed with either Master key or Watchtower Basement Key.
Application
>This ring is a fantastic way to provide more defense for your character without the fear of a slower movement speed. Because its augmentation is percentage based this ring becomes more beneficial when the wearer has more stamina.
>Weapons in the ultra-large category usually weigh above 10 kilograms, the heaviest weighing 28; so wearing this ring can help users of large weapons to be faster.
>Equipping Havel's ring changes equipment load to 1.5 x base equipment load. (+50%)
>Equipping Havel's ring and the Ring of Favor and Protection changes equipment load to 1.8 x base equipment load. (+80%)
>Equipping Havel's ring and the Ring of Favor and Protection and the Mask of the Father changes equipment load to 2.07 x base equipment load. (+107%)
>Killing Havel at the same time he kills you will cause the ring to go away.

My knight has str50 and end40 and I need havels ring to even move properly with his armor on.
I can't even roll without it.
ETA: I always fight Havel like such a pansy. I camp out at the doorway between his chamber and the area with the hydra. I lead him out to the steps, let him take a swing and then I get my one or two hits in while he recovers. he retreats back inside his chamber. Rinse, repeat.

It's almost an essential item that you must have especially with strength builds

I just let him come at me then just dodge/roll to the side when he brings the hammer down then I go to town on him ... rinse and repeat

Ok So im starting a new character. I dont think I want to go magic because I am just a grunt you know. i like to beat my enemies to death with my bare hands.
Looking for something different though so should I try a bare handed strength build?
EDIT: Nevermind that was a dumb thought, I think I will just do a good old fashion strength build with medium armor and greatsword.

Such a tough spot i am in.
Posted on 2/22/13 at 1:28 pm to SundayFunday
I like a speed build with dual swords preferably katanas or scimitars and parry a lot.
Posted on 2/22/13 at 1:29 pm to McRebel42
Are katanas worth it since the durability is so low?
Posted on 2/22/13 at 1:40 pm to SundayFunday
Well I try to improve them to max level that add an enhancement to it, for the extra damage. Then with parrying I don't believe there is too much wear and tear.
But with the decent katanas you are able to get quickly and being cost efficient it's easy to repair and upgrade.
But with the speed bonus you get I'd say yeah.
