Dark Souls - Let's Talk SL1

Yeah, I know...Souls-sessed. Don't care. I've decided to try a SL1 run on Dark Souls while waiting on Dark Souls 3 DLC.
Who has finished a SL1 run and on which Souls games? What was the biggest hurdle for you? What advice could you give to help prepare me aside from kill the dogs first?
I have loaded up on reinforced clubs and will be heading into the Parish soon.

Did two DS1, one with pyro and one with the club-only. Two melee-only runs on 2 and did one for DS3 shortly after it came out.
I don't necessarily think pyro is cheap in 1, but it's so fricking op that it kind of negates the point of a sl1 for ME. Best advice: stamina management and patience are key, way more so than in a regular run.

Yeah. Once you learn his moveset it's not too bad, and he's pretty forgiving as far as damage goes. You can also block most of his attacks with the Balder Side Shield.

I used baby Sif to help. The descent into the abyss was awesome.
I hear Manus on Sl1 is...challenging
Fwiw I've never done sl1. Just parroting what I've seen on r/onebros

Honestly, I don't know if I will stick with it. I want to try because nothing else is holding my interest lately. I keep switching between Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3.

It's kind of like the first time you played the game, if you can get passed O&S you should be ok.
Posted on 8/21/16 at 7:37 pm to JombieZombie
That's what I'm thinking. The first playthrough, I summoned for O&S. My second playthrough was solo, and I actually beat them on my first try. The big thing is keeping them separated and taking one out ASAP. But I won't have a +10 Zwei...sooo.....we'll see.

Get the rite of kindling before sen's / Anor Londo.
Posted on 8/21/16 at 7:46 pm to JombieZombie
I thought about killing Pinwheel, ascending one reinforced club to fire, and draining New Londo for the very large ember before Sen's. I should be able to run to Pinwheel pretty easily and just homeward bone back to Firelink.

Having a +5 lightening / fire weapon makes O&S much more manageable. I think I used the a lightening-infused barbed club for my restricted playthrough. That R2 jump attack comes in very handy.

I am going to be so pissed if I lose all these souls on the way to Andre

Gargoyles down. +5 reinforced club and +5 battle axe in the bag. Two purging stones for the Depths...just in case. I'm going to take on Havel and the two black Knights before heading to the Lower Undead Burg.
SL1 is bringing back those first playthrough feels.

I'm in Nightmare of Mensis right now in Bloodborne at BL4
The hardest boss so far has been The One Reborn which is weird since he's one of the easier ones when you're properly leveled
It'll be hard at first but you'll adjust. Although I'm sure the end-game bosses will rip you a new a-hole

The satisfying thing about sl1 is that it proves leveling doesn't matter in the least when it comes to actual victory. You make do with what you have, and you get by with skill and the goddamn loin cloth on your junk. I felt like a videogame champion after beating Manus SL1.
He was one of mine as well. Those overhead aoes are bullshite, and he can one-shot you with those fricking projectiles while trying to kill the bell bitches. Terrible boss in every regard.

Everyone talks about RNG being a problem in DS3 but I think I spent five minutes running away from that bullshite puke attack

The issue in DS3 is that some bosses and enemies are just as quick as those in Bloodborne, but your character still moves like a refrigerator in comparison. Stamina is also much less an issue in Bloodborne, however, I don't care for the spamming bosses in either game.
