Also, how do I utilize the container I just rented? Should I be able to put it in my house?

Be sure you have an actual Residence and not just lodging. Once you enter the residence a button top mid screen for "placement" opens a bottom row with the container. Click that bottom row icon and then drop the item and click the down arrow to confirm placement (like planting crops).
I got lucky late last night at stable. Picked up 2 T1 mares with a single breeding each (means using exchange can get 2 offspring each) and both were under 20k silver each. At that kinda price why bother catching wild ones

I made a Musa. (they went with traditional name rather than Blader/ Plum. Musa/Maewha).
Spatzle (Musa) young brother of Tortelloni (Ranger), Maccaroni (Wizard), and Farfalloni (Zerker). The Pastafella Clan.
BTW, the Blue potions (mana/whatever) are class restricted EXCLUDING the Musa/Maewha so don't bother to claim any blues.

Being able to just throw on Grunil +5 gear at level 1 is so awesome. Instantly run and demolish level 10+ mobs at level 1 and level up like crazy.

I just went ahead and bought a cheap Kalis Blade for the sake of leveling. Still gives bonus AP so it's not a bad buy for 30k.

While at the broker, check on "Maewha Seals". A new claim reward for 1 seal but prizes for up to 12 arranged in inventory in patterns (starting with 3 and in increments of 3 thereafter).
Persoanally would prefer seals as in new pet type, balance a ball on nose kinda seal

I've deleted two female bladers after I created them because I didn't like their look and the names I gave them. The second one I deleted after she hit lvl 11. Stupid deletion waiting time. Next one will be a male Blader that looks like khal drogo. Pretty sure I'll keep him
