Its through my wifi. Should I plug it in direct to the ps3? The patch took about 3.5 hours to download so I figured this would take as long.

Hell yes you should hardwire... even if it means you have to move your modem and router closer. wifi is convenient and all but if you are going to be gaming, hardwiring is a must
