What is the best pvp online game?
I have been playing LOTRO on creepside on the Landroval server for a couple of years, I enjoy it, what else out there is a good pvp experience?

I don't know that there is a best, it all depends on your style. Do you prefer open world pvp or instanced? Warhammer Online was a pretty good pvp oriented game, It had a bit of both open world and instanced and the whole system of "keep taking" (having battles to take over/defend a keep or castle) was pretty badass. Overall though, the population of that one imo was what really hurt it, but I haven't played it in a while either.

I dont know that I have a preference, have only played one game with pvp, i guess its kind of open-world.

UO has and always will be the correct answer to this. At the time I was a kid, and didn't like PvP all that much since losing everything sucked. But after playing WoW I realized how being able to lose everything like in real life made the game that much more exciting to play.

Lineage 2.Ncsoft made an awesome game but totally lacked the competence to realize it needed to be marketed and advertised.

Guild Wars
Warhammer Online had HUGE potential, and they blew it.

UO: Hybrid
UO. It's an old game, but now there are free servers out there. This server has the most people on it... it's almost like the old days.

WoW pvp is the suck, not that it was ever really good mind you.
Warhammer gets the nod from me on it.

I'll be honest, EQ pvp is where it's at for me. PvP in that game was never something that was planned for, and I think that's what made it great. Fights actually required skill because they took longer. Getting a couple of Warrior's duking it out in a jousting match was fun as hell. EQ didn't have 50,000 different attacks/buttons to just mash, so you had to actually had to do more than just stand there and spam shite. Granted, EQ was also my first MMO, so I'll always be partial to it, but I just don't enjoy pvp where it's just a lets see who can hit 1-10 the fastest and in the correct order.

I can potentially agree to a slight extent.
in Vanilla, it was the better geared team just skull fricked the other team - trust me, i was skull fricked many times
then they made AB which was a slight challenge cause you had to have a strat to be good at it - unfortunatly Alliance are morons, in large part.
WSG was ok at first, but then the better geared teams would camp you, while they held the flag to farm honor. changed now, so its a tad more enjoyable.
Alterac Valley was fun in the beginng because you had to do so many things to make the fight at the end easier - while still completeing it before the opposing sides. now its just a zerg to the other end and pray that you don't die on the last boss.
PVP as a whole got boring to me a long time ago - i hardly ever do it anymore.
**this is just my observation as an Alli player - i could easily see the same things fromn the Horde perspective - albeit it winning a whole hell of a lot more :P"

I've participated in WoW pvp like 3 times...instanced pvp for me just bores me. You know what you're getting into and that's that. In open world pvp (like what WoW started as) it's that element of surprise of not knowing if you're about to be attacked or not.
That's what I loved about EQ's pvp. The server I played on was split into 4 teams, but the evil team was so much stronger that the other 3 teams eventually joined together in a sort of 3v1 good vs evil show down. (3v1 doesn't sound fair, but there were that many more people that were evil than there were good). But at the same time, the people who were considered apart of the good team, could still attack the other good people as long as they weren't on their own team.
The teams were broken down into: Evil, Shorties (gnomes, halflins etc) Humans, and Elves. So basically, you never knew wtf was about to happen. You could be grouped with someone and they get pissed and start killing you. You wanted to take over a camp for that rare item, that all the other servers required you waiting in line to get in the group...frick it, kill the people and take the camp. It was brutal, and it was fun.
