Not sure if it’s hard drive. Games get stuck on loading screen and other issues. How hard is it to change the hard drive?

Back up all your saves and shite to the cloud (or a USB drive) first and then you could always try the auto-format factory reset option in the menu to see if that helps any.

Probably a good and easy first step, but if the hard drive is failing that may only be a temporary solution, and popping in a newer, bigger one is cheap and easy.

Mine did back in the day.

Had to send it to Sony for an official repair. Main reason I did so was that it was a fat 60GB which had full PS1 and PS2 backwards compatibility on it, meaning I didn’t want to risk losing that or say “frick it” and buy a new one.

The Blu ray drive crapped out. I bought a new eye and changed it out and it started working. I sold it immediately after and bought a ps4.
Ps3 is pretty easy to fix anything on it.

My wife's first gen ps3fat got rrod equivalent back in the day. Took it apart down to the motherboard put some flux on it and baked in the oven. Still works to this day. Fans are loud as hell though
