So I got the invite to preview Xcloud...Xbox's streaming service. The games run ok but I keep getting terrible input lag..Anyone else trying it out? How is your experience?

The amount and variety of games on preview is impressive and blows Stadia away..If they can get the tech working and pair this with game pass Stadia is dead I'm the water imo

What kind of internet connection do you have and are you hardwired?

What did you expect?

Google is honestly the only company in North America who could possibly it off.

We been doing this streaming thing for years (2012?). It really hasn't progressed much. Input lag was and is the issue. You just bumped up against a physics wall.

However, Google have data centers close to everyone or relatively close. nVidia and PS dont have that infrastructure.

The library yes.

But performance no.

I rather have a game which isn't a simulator for IRL seizures.

Read an article today from a guy playing Destiny 2 on Stadia and he said he would often forget he is streaming it, of course he was on google fiber.

I have a sneaking suspicion that these people are hosting these on AWS servers. That's the only thing that makes sense to me. Microsoft has there own server system, I can't remember the name though.

ETA: Azure? Maybe they're repurposing it for game streaming?

My Xbox is hardwired but I wasnt testing streaming from the console (which is also part of Xcloud) to my phone..I was testing off the app on my Galaxy S9 connected to my home router that is not 5ghz..I'm sure that wouldve helped.

Yea I would not choose a streaming gaming service over a PC or console but some games wouldnt be bad to play mobile if they can tighten up the latency. Some are having a good experience other not depending on connection which is what everyone expected. When the lag wasnt kicking in it was pretty cool to play Gears 5 while chilling on lunch break

Yeah that will cut down on your ability.

quote:

The primary differences between the two frequencies are the range (coverage) and bandwidth (speed) that the bands provide. The 2.4 GHz band provides coverage at a longer range but transmits data at slower speeds. The 5 GHz band provides less coverage but transmits data at faster speeds.

The range is lower in the 5 GHz band because higher frequencies cannot penetrate solid objects, such as walls and floors. However, higher frequencies allow data to be transmitted faster than lower frequencies, so the 5 GHz band allows you to upload and download files faster.

Google needs to come up with a service like PS now or Xbox Gamepass along with getting the technical side to work. I think the Netflix like model of these services would work far better for Stadia than expecting consumers to pay for Stadia service and pay full price for games. The preview build of Xcloud has over 50 games you can boot up right now and play for free. I assume that every game available on game pass will be playable on XCloud next years.
