Anyone play Shin Megami Tensei?

Just picked up IV for the 3DS off a friends recommendation and it's pretty awesome, can't believe I have skipped over this series until now.

It's a pretty unique series. It's a turn based RPG with a lot of supernatural elements. Super well done with very unique and interesting stories.

This, it's also super addicting as well. Reminds me somewhat of Pokemon but much more challenging and with a better story.
Also the fusion in the game is pretty cool, it's fun combining demons to make a super demon.

I'm playing Persona 4 (which is frickin' awesome) at the moment if that counts. Might try SMTIV one day too.

While I don't think the main series is as good as the Persona series, it's definitely a lot darker and deals with some similar gameplay elements and story themes.
It's definitely worth the cost, so I'd get into once you finish P4.

Correct. Persona 2 is kinda like an evolution from the first. They did remake it for the PSP, but as we've had this convo before, you don't have a PSP. They took a long break from 2 -> 3, but make sure you get Persona 3 FES over the vanilla P3. Both are on PS2.

Nocturne is the 3rd entry in the SMT main series (first two are super old). Persona, Digital Devil Saga, and Devil Summoner are all spinoffs of the main series. They may be set in the same world, share a character, or just share thematic elements.
SMTIV on 3DS is after Nocturne, but it's more like a FF sequel than a direct sequel.
