ff the ball defensive positioning is once again awfu

I've noticed this too. There always seems to be acres of space to exploit when you're attacking. I do like that the defenders seem to be more intuitive when it comes to cutting out passes and attacking the ball than they have been in the past, but there are times I wish they'd fill space a little better.

One thing they improved in this game was through balls. When sending balls to wide players they actually allow you to swing the ball wide where your player either receives it or it goes out of bounds, giving the defender no chance at it. In previous games that ball was often hit directly at the defender.

it is a little too fast and arcadey this year. You can just swim from end to end over and over again. Not enough midfield work is needed. It's like the game pace sliders are set too high.

Gabby on the wing is fine if you don't mind dealing with his terrible touch.

Yeah. If I can get the ball under control with him, it's off to the races. I'm in love with his speed.

I only played one game last night but this was kinda how I felt. A little too fast and jerky. I felt like a player could stop turn another direction and take one step (plus crazy computer slide) and cover like 8 yards. Didn't have as much problem with the first touch as everyone else. I also thought the computer was a lot easier to win the ball off of than in 2012. I played Sevilla in a friendly and I think they had 1 shot the whole game.

Bump the overall game speed down to slow if you haven't already. Makes a big difference.

This is exactly how I feel. I never owned '11 but I played it a few times and I feel like '13 plays more like '11 than '12 in terms of game pace and the "arcadey" feel. Everyone's always bouncing around and the ball is moving at a higher pace. Tough to control sometimes.

I like to go through my rape the world phase for a while then I start playing with smaller teams.

One thing I've noticed is that they've made Real's academy stupid good. They produced two 18 year olds with 99 speed.

If you have good enough scouts, anyone can have that kind of academy...

EDIT: Well, I guess that their progression in the youth squad probably had something to do with it...is progression the same for all teams or do the better teams get more out of their youngsters?

Well I was noticing 18 year olds on their squad when all of mine were 16. I produced a 16 year old playmaker from Poland who is already a 74.

You can sign a 16 year old and leave him in the academy for extra years. Did that a few times with Everton.

That is, if you're two or three years into your career already.

This year seems so much smoother than last years version, there's alot more flow to the game and MUCH better AI runs.

Couple of comments:
1) The warmup arena before online matches looks like a Super Mario/Yoshi Story level. 12 had better arena

2) Skills challenges are pretty sweet, reminds me of the old madden challenges

3) How the frick do you take out Croatia and put in fricking India?!?!? I understand adding the Saudi league, probably a huge market there but India???? Come on now

4) Online team management saves are awesome, time saver

5) Might I add I'm undefeated in 15 online games, bout 10 wins, 5 draws...come at me bro

I'm assuming licensing had something to do with it, but Croatia not being on the game is BS.

Also has anyone else experienced this problem: starting an online game but it never leaves the practice arena so you're stuck in there until you restart the game?? Happened a couple of times to me and I'm hoping they get this shite fixed.

I've just been dabbling in Career Mode so far, but I thought I'd share my experiences with it so far. I started with Liverpool and enabled Euro competitions in season one:

1. The fact that my young players actually get noticeably better as the season goes on is fantastic (Suso has gone up 6 ovr, Assaidi and Sahin up 4, Sterling up 2, etc.) and players who are out of form or getting old start decreasing (Gerrard, Joe Cole, Carra, etc.)

2. Negotiating on the transfer market is the tits. I scored a hat trick with Suarez in the first preseason game and proceeded to talk Bayern up to $65M after their first offer of $40M. The Market itself is a bit strange though, will lots of high-class players switching teams. Overall, I like the changes they made to it though.

3. My early returns from scouts so far are fantastic. Have a bunch of youth players with projected overalls ranging from 80-94, with my best at this point being a 15 year-old American RW with a projected overall of 65-74 and a potential of 91-94 Liverpool stackedddddd, EPL frickedddddd

4. Got my first International job offer in mid-October from Belgium and decided to pull the trigger, so I'll probably hire a third scout and send him out to Belgium and scout for the future. I've only had a couple of friendlies so far, so there hasn't been much for me to talk about yet in terms of International play. I look forward to bringing a world championship to Belgium though.

5. I'm currently tied for 2rd in the EPL (playing on World Class), behind Spurs and tied Chelsea I believe. Spurs are up 5 points on me with a game in hand but with the way the games plays, every game is unpredictable. I have noticed that my opponents play sooooooo much better at home than they do at Anfield. I'm not sure if this is specifically designed into the game or if I'm just imagining things, but I seem to have a lot of trouble with road games.

6. Oussama Assaidi leads the EPL in goals with 13 (I'm in early November right now), which is two ahead of Robin Van Persie. Raheem Sterling has 7 and Stevan Jovetic (Suarez's replacement) also has 7.

7. I'm having a lot of fun with the game right now and one thing about the game play that I've noticed more than anything, due to how I play, is that the CPU gives a lot of space in the middle of the field, which allows me the keep the ball for long periods of time and pass the ball into positions for my attacking players to get in on goal. I used to have a hard time playing possession football in previous games due to the computer closing down so quickly but that has finally changed in 13, for me at least.

I'm pissed that I didn't sell Nani during the transfer window. Now there are rumors of him not wanting to stay.

that post pretty much sums up why i can't play with a top-level team at first

I always play with Citeh first since they're my team but holy shite...this year it is insane.

Sold Aguero for $71-million to Madrid. Tevez for $30-million to Madrid. Ballotelli for $20-million to Milan.

Bought Gomez for like $35-million, Benzema for $32, Hummels for cheap (don't remember exact price but he's 23 with 88 potential), Ribery (don't remember price), and A. Masi (19 y/o 71 with 88 potential ) then dumped a shite ton into my scouting.

That's solid, surprised you sold that much though. I need to sell a player or two when January rolls around so I can hire a better scout
