They fricked me out of 35 bucks.
Guy didn't tell me when I bought 2 used games it was final. I go today to return em and he says sorry I can't return em, can't you see I wrote final on the receipt? Its basically a bunch of squiggly lines that make no sense. I thought it was one of those surveys or whatever that they always circle. He never said a single word about not returning them, just wrote some squiggly shite on the receipt.
I'm mad

I used to be the manager of a Gamestop. Were the games new or used? If they were used, as of a few years ago, you could return them for a refund within 7 days. If they were new, this thread is kind of dumb.
The only reason I can imagine that he would say the sale was final if they were used is if he felt you were taking advantage of the return policy and using it like you were renting games for free. Even if that's the case, you can ask for the customer service number, and he will either take care of it for you, or if you call customer service, his district manager will probably end up calling you and offering you a gift card, plus give you a refund. However, if you keep buying and returning used games, you probably deserve to be out the money.

They were used games. I admit I returned em a good bit, like maybe once a week, but the guy I usually deal with wasn't there.
I understand that at some point they don't want me to return them, but at least tell me before the sale is final. The guy told me to get the used version of the game instead of the new so I could return it if I didn't like it

You are still within the return policy. It doesn't really matter what he wrote on the receipt. Managers hate it when you use their return policy as a rental policy, and I used to tell people on their third return from the same original purchase it would be final unless defective, but there was no real way for me to enforce it if they complained. A customer service complaint is taken very seriously so if you threaten to call customer service or end up calling customer service, you will almost definitely end up being taken care of. That said, if you aren't a student or in a similar financial situation, the appropriate thing to do would probably be to let it go. Or go to a different Gamestop, because they aren't going to care for you anymore if you complain.
eta: Also, remember this, being the manager of a Gamestop sucks and can be very stressful so try not to be a jerk (unless he really deserves it because some do).

Are you fricking shitting me? I've had them take back a brand new game that I didn't like. But I don't abuse their system. I buy my shite and take responsibility for what I do. You workin the system and you got fricked. You appear to still be ahead of the game.

Trust me, I wouldn't care unless I was a poor college kid...35 bucks buys a lot of ramen
He was just a smug douche about it. I think he was just pissed that I didn't wanna pre-order any games. They asked me every damn time I was in there...I understand them not wanting you to use it as a return policy, but come on, I'm keeping the money at the store and even paid a couple times for games

Corporate's fault. Probably why so many Gamestop employees come across as smug douches.
eta: I'm guessing you've returned games more than a couple of times, and they probably recognize you as "that guy" as soon as you walk in. He still shouldn't have been smug, but your business isn't worth anything to him either so it's somewhat understandable.

One time I brought in a bunch of trade in games, and the dude tried to push the premier club card on me, he briefly mentioned the premier membership card that it gives you 15% off or soemthing...well he rung the card up without telling me, I looked at the total and I noticed I was being charged for something, so I told him to take it off. And he was like "Are you sure? You REALLY Sure???"

Well, it is a huge pain to refund it, all because you weren't paying attention when he told you about it.

It's so weird how you view places of employment differently after you have worked there.. I still think the card this is retarded, either the guy wasn't listening well, or the guy ringing him up did it covertly.. who knows?

I'm with Broke on this. Stop being a douche...yes you're keeping the money in the store, but not giving them more by abusing their policy. I hope you don't get that money back. You deserve to lose it.
The other employee literally told me to get the used game in order to be able to return it and get other games
ETA: I shop there all the time and I've bought several systems including a PS3.

They don't make any money off systems.

Well I didn't tell him I wanted it. He mentioned it "By the way we have a card blahblahblah.." And I was like "Cool" and that was pretty much it.
He rung it up without saying anything about it, I noticed it on the little screen with my total. And he was reluctant to take it off, I don't care if its a pain, he should have actually asked me if I wanted it or not.

The card works like this:
If you are somewhat of a hardcore gamer, you will end up saving much more than you spend, plus you get a free magazine subscription.
Gamestop gets your loyalty. If you spend $15 on their card, when you want to buy a game, you are going to go back to the place you bought the card from.
It sucks that corporate makes them feel like they have to push them (same with preorders), but it is a smart business model. The profits they gain from pushing it must be greater than the profits they lose by pushing away customers who get fed up with it. I'd like to think that at my store, customers had patience with us pushing it a little bit because we strived to give them excellent customer service without bothering them if they just want to be left alone. However, a lot of stores I go into now, have crappy customer, and then they try to push that stuff on you, and it's really irritating.

This is fine and dandy, but it's not abuse of their return policy on games.
eta: You might ought to find another location where they don't recognize your face and start scamming them for a bit.

I worked for Gamestop for 3 years and it sounds like you got jobbed here. If you go into the Siegen store (assuming you live in the Baton Rouge area) Ask to speak with Chris Blanchard the regional manager. He is really the only person that can do anything about it. (if anything at all) he practically lets the employees get away with murder.

Yeah but he's only got like $50 tied up. He plays their games and returns them. He's a user. I bet it would chap his arse if he owned the business and someone did that to him. But wait, it's fine since he's a poor college student.
