Being a PC guy now kinda has me wanting to dive into the modding game a bit. I've partaken in the Madden 20 mod that includes 98% of the NCAA teams. That was fun. But being a big CoD fan, I've always wondered what it would be like to design maps.
For those that don't know, DrDisrespect, aka Guy Beahm, used to work for Sledgehammer games and worked on Modern Warfare 3 and Advanced Warfare. Some of the original maps in Advanced Warfare were some of Doc's own creation. And he showcased his "skills" with the Black Ops 3 mod tools (Radiant Black) last month during his stream. He's actually done this a few times in the past year. Also, from what I understand, Radiant Black is one of the many tools that Treyarch, Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer uses for game development.
With the new game mode, 2v2, in Modern Warfare, Doc thought it would be fun for the viewers to see a vision he had for this game mode. These maps are relatively small, and usually don't take long to design if you know how to use the tools. Below is a map he designed, and one of his fans did the artwork for him.
Any of you PC guys dig into stuff like this to learn something new that's interesting to you? I'm a draftsman myself, and have been working with 3D models for the past 8 years, and this seems to be fun after messing around with it for a day.
