Any of y’all have a PlayStation Portal?

How does it feel in your hands when using it compared to the regular controllers? How’s the connection?

TIA

i've got one. i had to set it as a high priority when in use through my router settings, but overall, it's been nice to have and easy to use. only thing is my hands go numb if i'm laying on my back using it on the couch or in bed for a long period of time, but that also happens when i'm scrolling through my phone.

single player - great
multiplayer player - good / not great

My son got his in today and it’s constantly losing connection. I have fiber 1 gig and no issues with anything else in the house. Getting 300 mb down and up on speed tests for each device. So far I’m not impressed. Hope I can resolve the issue soon.

Feels great in the hands. I'm a fan. But like others the connection isn't always the best. Even in my home.

Yeah I was 100% out when I read it only has WiFi 5, that is absurd to put a decade old technology in a new device that runs entirely on WiFi. Just woof.

I can understand WiFi 7 being too new but to not make use of WiFi 6 or 6E is just lazy.

And to no surprise, tons of connection issues.

I honestly don't know whether to blame the Portal on that or not. As I don't feel like the upload speeds on the PS5 are anything to write home about. But the combination of the two leads to issues for sure. I use it for casual gaming when my kids have the TV tied up. So it serves its purpose.

And even then the PS5 at least has WiFi 6 despite it being a bad chip like all consoles wifi chips.

WiFi 5 is rough.

quote:

Wi-Fi 5 has a theoretical maximum data transfer speed of 6.9 Gbps. In real-life experience, the 802.11ac standard has an average data speed of about 200Mbps.

In fact, WiFi 6 enabled client devices enjoy a 40% increase in speed over their WiFi 5 counterparts.

I have an update. We are in Dallas over 4 hours from home and are using my mother in law’s cable internet. She has a netgear router and I chose the non 5g option and it is running flawlessly.

I guess I need to figure some settings out on my att fiber router.

I’ve got one and it runs great in our house. Played ffvii rebirth flawlessly.

I didn’t have to do anything with the router. Pretty much out of the box worked great.
