This is depressing.

A bag of analysts saw how successful Dying Light was in its late January release date in 2015.

Instead of saying “oh, it did well because the game was good and there weren’t a bunch of games coming out at the same time,”, they concluded “oh shite, people love games in February. Let’s make it the 2nd most popular time to release games of the year.”

There have been a bunch of games announced this E3 for the start of next year and it feels like crowding.

Maybe releasing games throughout the year makes more fricking sense.

Why do you think Horror Movies are released in Feb?

Movies and games are entirely different mediums. It’s only 8 dollars and two hours to watch a movie. $180 and 200 hours worth of games being dropped within 2-3 weeks of each other that you want to play is a concern.

Even with that said, look how many horror films have been released this and last summer. A ton.

What it tells people like me who ride the trailing edge of gaming is that I need to wait from February to the Steam summer or winter sales unless it’s something I really want.

Just short of XCom 3 being released, I’m not buying it day and date.
