Seriously, cancel that card order. Send it back, do whatever.
Cant at the moment. I bought at my friends house on amazon and amazon decide to take off all my orders off my account because they thought my identity was stolen. Not sure if its still being processed.
They said in the email that it would still ship but i would have to call my bank for any charges that werent mine. Then they took it off my recent orders list. Hopefully i can call them today and get it straightened out.

I pushed my 8350 to 4.8 last night using the auto clock feature on my MOBO before I just decided to stop. I maybe could have gotten it a little more.
IDk how it is for AMD processors, but never do this with intel. They throw way too much voltage at it so temps are worse then they should be

My temps were better than they have been on air running at 4.2
Finch, I hope this isn't the same freind that was telling you to wait on ordering parts because GPUs would be cheaper later on in the year despite AMD cards being cheap as dirt right now is it?
If it is, and he let you pay $200 for a 7850, you need to stop listening to WTF he says. He obviously has no idea what he is doing.

Nah, this is a different guy. We didnt think to look at 7870. We just browsed the 7850s and the 7950s.
Eta: hows the rest of the build? Meh, eh, or pfft?

Processor may be cool but what you really have to worry about is your VRM temps. What Blue said is correct for AMD as well. Auto overclocking overvolts like crazy and it doesn't necessarily mean that it's stable. I thought mine at was stable the other day after I tried out Aida64's stress test and I crash during a game of BF3. It's all trial and error though.
Here's the best guide that I've found

I am just going to stick at 4.2 anyway. I was just messing around waiting on something and have no intentions to run it at anything extreme. I have no need for anything more as it runs everything I do and play just fine.
I am having problems getting that docking station on the 650D to register. I need to go into my BIOS and adjust it to hot swappable I think.

4.2
that's where I'm at right now. 4.2 with stock voltage but I have a 4.5 profile that's stable. I'll mess with it a little today and see if I can get something higher stable.

That's weird. It should just read it like you installed a new drive.

Oh and there's quite a difference in performance in these two. For 60 dollars more you could have gotten a 7950. You have dumb friends and amazon isn't the only place to buy parts.

So, are you saying the only thing i fricked up on was the graphics card? I feel accomplished if true.

I had a 4.4 stable but I stopped messing with it for more. This was a month or so ago.

That's what I thought but apparently not the case. Reading around on the net its an issue in the BIOS.

at least you know there's a solution.
Posted on 7/20/13 at 11:00 am to brucevilanch
If it works.
Finch, you could have optimized that system some more and saved some money. For example, Seasonic is a great PSU, but you could have gotten an XFX for cheaper which are made by Seasonic. You could have then put that money saved towards upgrading other things that matter more.
Just little things like that is where people from here could have helped you.

Well, it was a friday night. I'm sure all of you were busy. So, i tried to be independent and wrap my head around all of it myself. I guess i just ended up wasting my money.

seriously? You really think that the computer guys are all tied up on a Friday night? SRSLY!?

If all i did was pay 50 bucks more than i shouldve, i can deal with that. If i made a complete frick up and spent 2 or 300 more than i shouldve, id be a little bit more upset about it.
Posted on 7/20/13 at 11:13 am to finchmeister08
true but that 50 could have went to better places.
Posted on 7/20/13 at 11:13 am to finchmeister08
Do yourself a favor, if you can't cancel it then send it back when you get it. Amazon is good about it. It's a little trouble that will pay off In the end
Posted on 7/20/13 at 11:13 am to finchmeister08
It's not just the money. It's the quality and overall performance. You spent 715 when you could have much better parts for $711 if you would just listen to what we have been telling you.
ETA: I would still spend another $20 on top of that and get a 990FX motherboard.
