If the gaming wasn't so much better on the 360 I'd definitely have a PS3 instead. I've had the rrod twice. Pisses me off that they made the 360 so weak.

The thermal compound on the CPU heat sink is starting to fail. As a result, the X clamp that holds down sink and CPU in the 360 heats up and expands, effectively pulling the CPU out of it's socket somewhat. This is what is most likely happening to cause your 360 to lock up. Mine did the same thing before I got the red ring.

Microsoft finally addressed the issue by starting to use a better thermal compound and this fixed the majority of 360 issues.

I hate to say it, but I agree with everyone else. You are getting very close to the RROD.

My 360 started freezing on Saturday and on Sunday I got the RROD. Luckily, I paid the extra money at Best Buy for the replacement plan. So all I had to do was go swap it out for a new one. The only thing that sucks is I lost all of my saved games.

just leave it on a few days and put it out of it's misery.

I have the same replacement plan, have swapped out two already. First time lost my save data, second time I kept my HD and swapped out the new one, no problems.
