The guest posts on his newsletter/website from Mary Ann on her European trip a while back were cringeworthy in the extreme. Almost read like a travelogue from the Onion.

I am listening to the second hour of his May 8, 2019, show as I type this. I'm almost 20 minutes in..........no callers yet. As a result Tom is talking about Shaya, where he took his family to lunch Wednesday, and describing the menu in detail.

i saw some article he wrote where he had the entire Shaya/Saba thing backwards. I recall seeing it in some rag like NO city living or city business but found it online as well. Alzheimers or not, he just doesn't know what he's talking about anymore.

Here it is:

https://wwl.radio.com/blogs/food-show-tom-fitzmorris/dozen-best-new-or-reopened-restaurants-new-orleans

According to him, Besh opened Saba after the split.

The runaway success of Shaya, the Israeli restaurant from Chefs John Besh and Alon Shaya, was such that when the two men broke away from one another, it left a vacuum. When the handsome Kenton's restaurant shut down despite its very good Southern style and Magazine Street address, Besh took advantage of the opening. He opened Saba with the same general spirit Shaya's created, or so iot seemed to me.

Wow.

So please someone send this link to Saba mgmt so they can ask for a correction. Why screw up something so easily fact checked via google and thousands of words of additional media coverage? Bah.

You can copy the link Reg provided and send it to them if you like. It's dated from last December. Someone commented under the article that Besh didn't open Saba, but I guess Fitz either doesn't read the comments or doesn't care.

I thought the reviews were great. They were detailed about locations and food that was being paired.

We have staples like Irene's, Del Monicos (going tonight), Bayona and Mr B's that we really like. We do our research and due diligence and try others. Cant say we've ever had a bad meal. Some were just more memorable. I laugh listening to Tom but don't need him for recommendations. I use this board for that...

I saw Paul in the reflection of his bottle of 4 Roses the other night. I like to lurk in the bourbon thread because if I drink it, I’ll go directly to jail. I live vicariously through that thread, and stay out of jail (I ain’t going back to jail).

Anyway, Paul isn’t Tom. So shut up.

No you shut up

We have similar reactions to drinking bourbon. Meet you behind a Waffle House or an IHOP?

Someone should just call Tom and ask him if he’s got dementia.

I would, but I forgot the number or when the show comes on.

Paul has it and I'm sure he'll share it with you.

I didn't know you were a former jailbird.
