Looking to get my wife on a wine club/wine of the month. She’s a red drinker, mostly cabs and pinots but will drink any/all reds. Does anyone have any recommendations for this?

What "level" wine drinker is she? Typical price per bottle that she drinks at the house?

I've been gifted several wine club memberships and most have not been very good.

Does she have a particular winery/winemaker that she's in love with?

Find a few you like and just buy them direct. Random buying is never a good idea.

Typically in the $15-$20 range from Costco. Definitely not a wine snob

I’ve been associated with many in the past, only one I kept was V Sattui. You can only get their wines via direct from winery/wine club.

Gotcha. I'm sure someone will chime in with some good club recommendations.

Winc.com

You can take the survey to try and figure what flavors you enjoy. They will then recommend some bottles for you. You can select any number of reds and whites per month. Typical bottles will be around $13 each. They do have "select" bottles that can be from $20 to $40 each. If you get 3 of the regular bottles, you have to pay for shipping but if you get 4 the price allows you to get free shipping which basically gives you that 4th bottle for $4 or so. They send you a book each month that details all their wines and they have a lot of recipes that are paired with each wine. If you send me your email, I can send you a box for free (up to 3 wines I believe).

Assuming that you like New World wines.... a couple around town that you might want to look at:

Seghesio - lots of different Zins
Arista - some great Pinots
Handley Cellars - Pinots and Gewurzaminers from the Anderson Valley
Sbragia - some great Cabs, all around good wines
Twomey Cellars - all around solid wines

One of my concerns about wine clubs is receiving a shipment during the summer here. Can't be good for the wine to be sitting in a FedEx van that is basically an oven at that time.

Refrigerated shipping if they must ship in the summer.

Most of the wineries around here ship spring, fall and winter only for that reason.
