My dad used to do this. He'd parboil them in crab boil, then smoke them and glaze them on the grill. He loved it that way. I didn't have the heart to tell him I hated em.

When I was a waiter at Outback many years ago I remember them steaming the ribs during the day. Then they would refrigerate until ordered and throw on the grill.
