Houston Chronicle article - August 28, 2018

quote:
A major whiskey tasting event is coming to Houston in September and thankfully its scheduled for a Saturday night. On the night of Sept. 22 at the Silver Street Studio in the Washington Avenue Arts District hosts the Whiskies of the World event with nearly 200 varieties of whisky available for tastings.
Some of the more popular brands sending ambassadors include Bulleit, Crown Royal, Laphroaig, Jack Daniel's, Knob Creek, Suntory, and Woodford Reserve. Texas labels like Garrison Brothers from San Antonio, Denison's Ironroot Republic, and Waco's Balcones Distilling will also be handing out pours of their product.

Whiskies of the World is a great event. However, it’s gotten so big, that they stopped hosing it at hotels. And that is very bad. I’ve never, not gotten drunk at it.

I went to the one in Austin years ago...a friend gifted me with a VIP pass and it was a truly awesome experience. So much fun and the VIP allowed me to taste special whiskeys that not everyone had access to. Definitely caught a good buzz and got to try lots of new, different things.
Highly recommend it.
