ETA: it’s unfortunate but I feel like these are all kind of a hot mess

I agree. Hot yes, they are very hard to enjoy upfront.
You should let it rest for 15-20 minutes or even put a small ice cube in it.

I find them to be really inconsistent, but have had a few that were well worth the purchase (bourbon house, Maisanos apple butter). It's quite a contrast to something like the RR or Kentucky spirit picks. Those are always good (at a minimum) and sometimes great.

On a lower level, I'd compare them to 1792 in terms of the wide range of quality.

Has anyone picked up Zuppardo's barrel pick of Angel Envy? It was one of the cheaper Envy barrel picks I've seen. Hoping to grab one this week if they still have some.

I have three different picks and I’ve tried to set them out and/or add water. Haven’t added ice because I don’t really like my whiskey cold (unless it’s a cocktail). Added water last night and it muted the banana flavor a bit and just left most of the heat

Often see Sagamore Double Oaked posted here, tried it at our City Club here tonight and it was fantastic. Definitely picking up one of those soon.
