Good stuff? I know ZERO about scotch

I have a bottle of that sitting on top the fridge. It's decent but I prefer Speysides way more than highlands.

The Tomatin 18 is pretty good for the money. It's only about $50 and drinks easily. Agree with above that my favorite region is the Speyside, though.

Hm.. I better not look to deeply into that.. I can barely afford my bourbon habit/hobby without adding scotch to the mix.

If I bring my Balvenie Doublewood 17 year and give you a sip, it would likely convert you and you'd have to open a second account to hide from the wife

yeah it's pricey but amazing...the Balvenie 14yr rum cask is a little more affordable but good enough to convert a bourbon drinker

Whats a bottle of that cost?
~130-150 depending on where you get it.

I can get allot of good bourbon under $40, Not so much with scotch, right?

I'm a big fan of it, but I can see some bourbon drinkers not being into it because of the fruity flavors. The regular Balvenie Doublewood 12 year and Aberlour 12 year are probably some of the better "gateway" scotches.

For the most part, yeah, though you can find some good ones for $40-$50. The ones under $40 are usually blends and can be hit or miss. I will say, however, that Speyburn 10 is pretty darn tasty and usually under $30.

I usually pick up a bottle or two of something to bring to my parents' house for me to drink since it's pretty sparse around Opelousas. I may bring along an Aberlour 12 and let you try it to see what you think.

How does johny walker blue fall into those your talking about. That's the last scotch I tried and I really didn't like it. Other than that it's been cheep regulars and I didn't like them either.
