Whiskey Barrel Aging Help

I got one as a gift. Anyone ever used one and have any good advice on something I should try in it and for how long? It is pretty small.

I tried aging white dog and was pretty disappointed in how it turned out. I did a barrel aged old fashioned after that and it was delicious! Sazeracs are great barrel aged coctails also.
