Flying in on Monday for work. I am gonna go out on a limb and say steak is what I should be looking for.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Nothing too expensive, so nothing more than around $50-60 a person.

The Capital Grille is in The Plaza. While it's a chain, brother in law says it's a top notch place.
If you have time to eat bbq try SLAP's BBQ. It's super close to downtown on the Kansas side. The best restaurant bbq I've ever had. Meat and sides equally as great. Baked potato casserole one of the best sides I've ever eaten at a bbq joint.

I'll second Oklahoma Joe's. Best ribs I've ever had.

Ok, I've been in Kansas City now for 7 months after we moved here earlier this year from Texas. There are some really good places to eat here in KC.
Where are you staying? The Plaza?
For Breakfast hit up Classic Cup, great breakfast, and good french pressed coffee.
As mentioned Capital Grille is on the plaza, and I've been, really good. Another option if looking for steak or nice place is The Oliver, really good food and cocktails. Seasons 52, and Gram and Dunn would be others to checkout. Another great place is The Reiger, great bar and food, also has a hidden speakeasy bar The Manifesto. For lunch or dinner could also hit up The Beer Kitchen or BRGR
As far as BBQ, here is my take so far:
The best in town right now is Q39. More of a sitdown restaurant, but the BBQ is some of the best I've had.
Joe's is really good, and consistently puts out great Q, I prefer the original location. The ZMan is a great sandwhich. Their burnt ends are awesome.
LC's - this is a hole in the wall place, but has some of the best BBQ in town. Everyone I've taken there raves about it.
SLAPS - great ribs and sides. Small place so if eating there you might have to wait for a seat.
Gates is good for lunch, good Q, just not one I go to much even though I could walk to one from my house.
Arthur Bryants - DON'T GO! I've been twice and it is the worst bbq I've had in KC. I think it lives off its history more than anything.
If you have time and like beer make sure to go by Boulevard and check out their new tap room, good beers, with a great view of the city.
If you are a bourbon/cocktail kinda guy check out Julep.
Hope you enjoy KC!
