About the time Ivars bartenders started adding extra drinks to my bills. Every damn time I use a credit card they charge extra drinks I never asked for or received. I’ve brought it to the bartenders attention every time. They suck over there. I only go because that’s where my buddy likes to drink. Sucks when I’m out of cash.

Sammys is decent depending what you order. Prime rib Poboy is legit.

I would agree the expansion early 2000's was the beginning of the decline.

My wife and I used to love the one in Prairieville, but the last time we went was the last time we went. Bad food, slow, inaccurate service. The only thing good are the hot bartenders, but that won't get us back.

I’ve always felt that it’s been overrated. Never understood the hype. Same w/ George's & Dempsey's.

When they expanded into Prairieville.
That location has been shite since day 1. After that the other locations started going downhill as well. They had a good reputation and tried to ride it out but went to lower quality food and MUCH lower quality staff.
Haven't been in quite a while and have no desire to go back.

Dempsey's

Is also shite now. I ordered a bowl of gumbo and shrimp poboy a few weeks ago and it was like eating a salt block.

They must have done something different with their batter for fried foods. Everything is over salty. My wife had the the chicken fried steak last time and it was inedible.

Was the cfs pounded thin to cover almost the entire plate or was it just a little salty puck? I hardly indulge in gluttonous meals like that anymore but when I do I want it to be on point. I went for the cfs on a hangover day once a couple of years ago and couldn't even eat the bullshite they gave me.

I had the bayou catfish most recently, used to be one of the most delicious heavy meals to be had in the city. Was like eating straight salt, the sauce was completely wrong, the shrimp were small and not butterflied, the crawfish was almost non-existant, and there were no mushrooms. the stuffed potato was bland. Also store bought croutons on the salad to start, literally the only thing that was right in the whole meal was the house salad dressing and garlic bread which a retarded chimp could make.

Totally agree that Walkons food has really gotten a lot better. Ribeye poboy is legit.

Slight hijack...

Who remembers it from the beginning?

My now wife lived in Gardere back in the day when Gardere was not a DMZ and a lot of LSU students lived there (late 80s), a friend of hers was hired as one of the first waitresses there. It was just the original place (I remember the first expansion when they added that little section right behind it).

Damned good food at student friendly prices. We ate there a lot.

I worked with 2 Tiger Girls at a restaurant

But you’re right. Most didn’t. They had practice every single day.
