When I was a freshman, they had a place that only served one item each day. Thursdays were chimichangas and I was obsessed.

Panda Express.

Although I miss the little Asian corner they had when it was a seperate section with community registers.

The Pasta station was money too

is the Union all chain restaurants now? I remember as a freshman they were slinging out some backwoods style plate lunches that were pretty damn good considering the venue.

As a freshman and sophomore I preferred the pizza place by the bowling alley. By the time I graduated I was eating at the Magnolia room several times a week.

I miss that bowling alley/arcade.

And Sandellas was frickinh awesome.

I honestly couldn't tell you. Although I am back in school, I only do evening classes so I rarely eat on campus and if I do, not much is open.
I haven't spent much time in the Union since freshman year because I had a student job sophomore-junior year and then basically bailed on school altogether. Horrible, I know.

But I believe it's mostly chain stuff now. McDonalds downstairs, Chick Fil A, Pizza Hut (or whatever place it is.. papa johns?), Salsaritas, Panda Express, etc. upstairs.

That's good to hear. At least we're not completely indoctrinating LSU youths with bullshite like Chick Fil A and Panda Express.

Bowling alley/pool/arcade segment would be a far better use of floor space in the old book store than that Olinde's center.

It is fine where it is at in Coates.

Right because they're moving the book store to the Barnes & Noble right? What is the Olinde's Center they're putting in there? It's a fricking shame taking all the cachet out of what was and could be a very unique student union and turning it into a fricking mall food court.

One big thing they have improved on is the late night dining option.

I remember where if you wanted to eat after 7, you either got Highland Grille or were SOL.

Really crappy for a night owl like me.

Spoiled little shits with 3 AM Taco Bell and Papa Johns on campus don't know how lucky they are.

The bookstore is already moved.

Been done for months now.

They are replacing it with floor space for helping kids polish resumes and interview skills.

Important, but not worthy of being Union centric.

The Union should be a social gathering place predominately.

Dining places, fun places, and study places.

I like Chickfila. Although they could bomb the rest of the food options (sans Faculty Club) on campus and it wouldn't bother me.

That is a nuclear BOOM of a statement, but it will not effect the mind of the masters. The old games area was a cash machine for the Union and never should been fricked with IMHO.

So they're changing the Student Union from a place that had lanes for rolling inbetween classes and some decent grub for college kids into a building for kids who can't read good.

De-unionize the Union.

No, they're changing the old bookstore into the center for kids who can't read well.

Faculty Club

They renovated with a new menu and new name, and they now serve dinner Thurs-Sat.

This thread just inspired me. Jones hasn't been on campus in a few years, so we're going to lunch at Faculty Club.. visit the new Union.. visit the new bookstore.. and see Mike the Tiger
