What’s your go-to cognac for mixing?

I really enjoy a good Vieux Carre and an occasional Sidecar, but my cognac game is pretty limited. I’ve used both Pierre Ferrand 1840 and Remy Martin VSOP with good results in the past, but I’d like to try some others as well. Let’s keep it at/below $60. Thanks!

Wat

Mixing brandy is for people who drink E&J with sprite.

Get you some Courvoisier.

Seriously, that's what I've always bought if I ever have to get it.

Ehhh, there's a few good old school cocktails that utilize it. Seems that's what he was looking for given his price point request.

Sipping a great cognac neat after a great meal is one of life’s greatest pleasures.

Sure. The two ideas aren't mutually exclusive.

Remy, Hennessy, and Courvoisier are always good value buys.

The Remy Martin mature cask finish should be right around your price range and is great.

How’s the oak? I don’t want something where it’s so assertive, it fights with the other ingredients.

Should do fine in a Vieux Carré but I probably wouldn’t use it in a sidecar.
