Besides the goofy sandwich place, which I'll probably hit anyway, but which I heard is sort of forgettable.

Yeah, from what I understand, that's the only real novel/interesting thing about it.
Come on, is that really the only thing the city has to show for itself culinarily? It can't be.

I've spent 10 weeks there over the last 4 months.. and been to almost every decent restaurant in town.
Primanti's is pretty much crap, the entire city puts fries on everything and if you are into "healthy" options, good luck.
Market square has a few decent places, including a place called NOLA. Its a New Orleans themed restaurant but keep your expectations really really low.
Any other questions or suggestions, let me know.

Pretty good food here.
Good beer, too. My youngest son lives at the top of the hill that brewery sits on. (Troy Hill)
I can see the building where he works in that Pirates photo. He crosses that yellow bridge every day going to work.
I like the town and the people. Pittsburgh has more bridges than Venice Italy.
Good Thai food and Viet food there also.
Good hole in the wall (mom and pop) pizza just down the street walking distance from my son. Ask about him when you stop in. They like him and his wife.
Really good coffee roaster on the strip.
