I actually prefer authentic Chinese dishes and often ask for them when I visit Chinese restaurants.
I worked for several weeks in Dailian and Beijing, China and I was really surprised what we call "Chinese food" isn't what they call Chinese food. Or, even 'food.'

Yep, my dad has been to China several times on business. He told me he ate a lot of jellyfish and that the restaurants/shops weren't very sanitary. My favorite Chinese in the region at the moment is probably Little Chinatown in Kenner. I like their intestine in XO sauce, congee, chow fun, Cong bao yang rou, da dou miao, and some other more authentic dishes.

Find a Vietnamese place and call it a night. The best egg rolls in the world. In Houston anyway, never been impressed with Mexican or oriental food in BR.
