Of course!

I found out a couple weeks ago that a person I work with has been to Alinea. I was so jealous. He was impressed I'd heard of it.

Yep, I remember you telling me it was an old, important person.

Really, though, just get up there, have a great time in Chicago, and spend the money on Alinea. I'd be super-shocked if you regretted doing it.

Go solo if you think he'd be a sourpuss about it...the whole thing is quite intoxicating, I promise.

Oh no. I'd have to enjoy it with somebody. Hopefully somebody that would be in awe and giddy the whole time like I would. I think he'd be a good sport for me.

Arnaud's French 75 Bar is a good one. Chris Hannah is the barman and one of the best in the city. Hannah is also a bartender in the old fashioned sense and takes the role as host seriously.
French 75 Bar @ 813 Rue Bienville, New Orleans, LA. 504 - 523 - 5433.

Bar Tonique is at the N side of the French Quarter. I don't like Rampart. Ed Diaz is the owner and he's serious about the cocktail program.
Bar Tonique @ 820 North Rampart Street, New Orleans, LA 504 - 324 - 6045.

Bar Uncommon @ Renaissance New Orleans Pere Marquette Hotel
817 Common Street, New Orleans, LA 504 - 525 - 1111.

Bombay Club is a good one. Cheryl Charming is the manager and works behind the bar on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Bombay Club @ 830 Conti Street, New Orleans, LA 504 - 586 - 0972.
LINK
Napoleon House Bar & Cafe @ 500 Chartres St., New Orleans, LA. 504 - 524 - 9752.

Carousel Bar is a classic hotel bar. Marvin Allen is the manager and main bartender. He's solid and a great personality. It's a good for stop for classics.
Carousel Bar @ Hotel Monteleone| @ 214 Royal St., New Orleans, LA. 504 - 523 - 3341.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I might try Bombay club. A guy I used to serve me at Mondo works there now and he was always really friendly.

How is Mondo coming along after the recent incident. Ms. Spicer is a great chef.

I haven't been back since. Maybe I'll stop by tonight for an early dinner in the bar.
