Who has one?

I built an UDS and have maybe $75 into it. But I used the cook grate and lid from a Weber Kettle I bought at an estate sale. That helped keep the price down. The hardest part of making one is the charcoal basket but you can bolt one together easy enough.

Christmas day I ran it at 225 for 6 hours. And that was with the outside temp in the mid 20s. Thin blue smoke the whole time.

I am amazed at how well it cooks every time i use it.

Drums rule!!!!

ETA: UDS

I cut my teeth on a UDS. I bolted together my charcoal box with wire mesh from ACE. It was great. I now use a campchef XXL and it is like smoking with a game genie. I have a pork shoulder on it now, I filled it with pellets and set it to my temp. It has had a 6 degree variation since it got up to temp this morning.

Yes, I had to google it. Then I suggested he share pics of his UDS to give his thread more depth. If you’re gonna brag about your smoker, share the pics so we can see her and admire her.

Well to be honest my drum is a minimalist affair. I use a Rock Auto refrigerator magnet to control the intake vent and the paint is sketchy. So not much to look at.

It was really built as a proof of concept that has exceeded my expectations.
I figured if it worked as well as everyone said, I could always bling it out. So far I have not felt the need to improve it....yet!!!
But it sure does cook!!

I will see if I can get a pic of it.
