Tried two new beers here in Louisiana recently. Stoudts Pils and Rio Grande Pilsner. I thought both of them were good, but I preferred the Stoudts and will try to find more of their brews.

I've enjoyed the Stoudts I've had. I really like their Pale Ale.

I saw a couple of Rio Grande beers on the shelf this weekend (can't remember where though). Almost picked them up before spotting some Squatters and opted for that instead.

Picked up a stoudts pils from calandros this week. I thought it was a spot on representation of what a traditional pilsner is suppose to taste like. I'll likely buy more soon!

I really liked it also, however! Correct me if I'm wrong. When it comes to IPAs, am I for off in my idea that they can be generally broken down into to types; the ones with hops which result in a fruity/citrusy type of bitterness, and the ones that are just piney/earthy kind of bitter.

Personally, I like the piney earthy kind of bitter.

I have had other products of theirs in the past that I thought were good. The APA I got from Calandros a couple months ago I find pretty weak. I think it even said it was rated around a 91 by some scale. I assume it was not good because the 6 pack I got was not very fresh.

Yes, I understand what you mean here. Personally, I prefer IPAs that aren't completely dominated by hops, which is why I liked the Squatters. Of the two types you mentioned, I would lean more to the fruity/citrusy type.
