Try Food Network's website. Many of her recipes are on there.

I too saw that segment on the today show. I wasn't really paying attention until they dropped the crab meat in.

I went online that day (3/27) to look for the recipe but could not find it. They did have the video to watch. They have since pulled it. Giada aslo made peanut butter and blackberry jam cookies for that episode and as of yesterday (3/29) that segment was still available to view online. I have not rechecked.

Here is what I do remember with certainty:

She fried the bacon to render the fat. She removed the bacon and fried a chopped onion in the grease.

She poured a red sauce in (i think it was marinara).

She poured cream in.

She added "lump" crab meat.

She was going to serve this over whole wheat linguine.

I thought the segment was to promote her new book "Weeknights with Giada" but I went online at Amazon and could not find a linguine with crab recipe in the index. There is a recipe listed as "Spicy Linguine with Clams and Mussels" but I could have sworn that she added lump crab meat on television. Since I can only read the index on amazon, I cannot read the recipe to see if it starts with rendered bacon grease. I am wondering if maybe she made the wrong recipe for tv and that is why they pulled the video so fast? Or perhaps the recipe allows for a subsitution? Or perhaps you remember it having mussels and clams?

I tried to make the recipe based on what I remembered and did a little guess work. Here is what I did/used:

I fried a half pound of thick cut bacon. I did not chop up first but I think she did. I removed the bacon.
I fried a diced medium sweet onion in the bacon grease for about 5 to 10 minutes.
I added a jar of Classico Spicy Red Pepper spaghetti sauce.
I added a cup of cream.
I added about a heaping teaspoon of rock sea salt. I measure salt in my hand so I don't really know how much I used. I would say "add salt to taste".
I crumbled the bacon and added it back.
I returned the mixture to a boil.
I added a pound of lump crab meat ( I used the kind that comes in a one pound can in the refrigerated section of the grocery store).
I returned to a boil to heat through.
I served over one pound of fettucine since I was out of linguine.

Note: whole wheat pasta usually comes in a smaller box than one pound. It might be a better sauce/linguine ratio to just use one box of whole wheat linguine.

Regardless, this was delicious! And I think this new recipe may be more deserving of the "heart attack on a plate" designation than fettucine alfredo!

By the way, after looking through her new recipe books index I am thinking I may have to buy this book. I don't own any of her books and have never watched her show. The index looks good to me though!
