This is the mayo version of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I eat mayo past the "best by" date all the time. It's fine, even way past the best by date. If mayo is bad, it would look bad and smell bad.

Packets are expensive, they don't last forever, and they're too much trouble if you need more than one packet for making a dish like tuna salad, chicken salad, or cole slaw.
