Really good article on Frank Stitt's Bottega in Birmingham.

If you're ever unlucky enough to be in Birmingham, give this place a shot. Its terrific.

You can also go to his other restaurant, Highland Bar & Grill. It is about 400 yards away from Bottega. I probably like it more than Bottega and I love Bottega.

Hell, I like Chez Fon Fon better than Bottega, and I also love Bottega. Can't go wrong at any of the three, IMO.

Well written and illustrated article.

Excellent - Stitt's menus never get old.

Birmingham has come a long way in the past 10-15 years. Would be a great weekend getaway given the restaurants, breweries, golf, and outdoor activities.

Ross Bridge is a pretty nice place, but I HATE the golf course there. Easily my least favorite of the Trent Jones Trail courses I've played.

Ross Bridge is nice, but 20-30 minutes to anything

If it were me, I’m staying at the Elyton or Redmont downtown, or maybe the Grand Bohoemian in Mtn Brook (probably this)

James Beard Most Outstanding

Highlands Bar & Grill is literally the Most Oustanding Restaurant in the country...according to James Beard Foundation. High praise going up against restaurants in NOLO, NYC, San Fran, etc

Plus add in Dolester Miles making the desserts at Highlands/Bottega. When she gets that blueberry tiramisu rolling

Same. I've actually had some decent meals at The Yard at the Elyton. Had a really good steak and a porkchop dish there.

Fair enough, I was there a lot on business before all of the new stuff started happening. So I admit my frame of reference is skewed. That, and, you know, Bama.
