Anybody have one?

I grew up on lighter fluid as an ingredient, but have been thinking about getting a starter chimney. I've seen several, but what's the best? or does it even matter....are they all =?

Get one and don't look back. They work great. You'll never have to buy (or taste) lighter fluid again.

use it once, and you will never go back to lighter. easy, quick, no lighter fluid taste.

as far as best, i don't know that it matters. i've got the Weber brand, and it works great. my mom has a no name, cheapo. hers is clearly flimsier than mine, and it is rusted all to hell, whereas mine is not, but hers certainly lights the charcoal just as well as mine....

The Weber chimney has holes on the sides which makes it light faster.

I was thinking about getting the Weber, but also looked at some cheaper ones.

The idea of burning newspaper seems odd, is that the standard technique?

I have the Weber grill and chimney. No need for lighter fluid....it's awesome.

And yes, I use like one sheet of newspaper and bam, done.

not sure why it would seem odd but, yeah, it is the standard technique. stuff a sheet or two in the bottom, flip it over, fill with charcoal, light, and wait. nothing to it.

I have the Weber and it's definitely the way to go. Like others have said, a chimney is pretty much a chimney but the Weber has a really solid handle/tilting handle that makes handling hot coals a little easier

It's one of rare products that really pays for itself.

I have a cheap one from wally world and it works just fine. I started out with newspaper and now just use a starter stick to get the coals going. Either way is fine.

Poor mans version. One can of commercial sized vegetables. Open the can and throw them away. Using a church key bottle opener use the pointy end and make holes along the bottom side, then remove the bottm of the can.

Got a cheap one years ago and used it until it completely rusted away. Love it. Never go back to the fluid! Before the chimney, the BBQ rats would drink my lighter fluid and leave me with none to light the pit!
