Rodney bored with playing golf at UC,etc..ready for Southdowns Redux?

Tim, you are so right, Southdowns always made it's money as a Thur-Fri-Sat nitecap late crowd.

Yes, my bad...it was Mac Brousseau. I remember a very crazy weekend on Macs houseboat with crabs iced down and steaks on the bar b q pit...a lot of liquor and crusing up and down the river...and I think CCR was still on the stereo

He owned Uncle Earls with Missy Jackson and his brothers opened and owned The Caterie, O Briens and Parrains which they since have sold. Not sure what they do now but they did a good job on those. Caterie has gone way down hill food wise since they had it. Parrains food is good though.

He did indeed sit on the bar stool and Missy always sat in the rocking chair just inside the door with Mac's Bull Mastiff and Missy's two golden retrievers on the floor in front of her.

Not sure what Missy is doing these days either. I remember, although I was too young at the time, when Uncle Earls opened because next door was The Kingfish. I did get to see The Jeff Pollard Band at the Kingfish before it closed and that band became Louisiana's LeRoux. "New Orleans Lady."

Crap. Long time ago.

I remember when his houseboat burned down and all that was left was the barge and for several years he would just cruise the burned up barge up and down the Tickfaw river. He was a trip now.

I also remember when Apple Sanders was the bouncer at Southdowns. He was huge and knew it but one night I saw an old man knock him out with one punch. The whole bar sounded like when Eddie Fuller caught the touchdown in Tiger Stadium to beat Auburn. That was a funny site.

Peppy's.

That was when I was in my prime. Kingfish was going out just when I was coming in.

Forrest Ward was a bartender at Peppy's and could make a glass of vodka like no other.

Yep, Glen Bynum, Forrest, Jill, etc..

And didn't mean to slight Missy and their dogs by omission, as it's environs made for a great contrast to Peppy's club atmosphere. Uncle Earl's was a great Mon-Thurs pooldive, Peppy's was a Fri-Sat dancefloor.

Yeah I knew that. Don't know what the brothers are doing.

I was fishing in Venice a few years ago and hadn't seen Mac since he closed and probably a couple of years before that but he walked right up to me and said hello and cleaned my box of fish for free. Nice guy but he was struggling. I put a fifty dollar bill in his console.

I think Glen is at Primo's for this week and Matt Merchant is there as well I believe.

Didn't think about a slight. I used to play pool a bunch and that was a great place to do it. Wish it was still around. Back then there were several good places to play pool. Not so much so anymore.

What were the two places by Foxy's? Can't remember the names of those.

One of the pool halls close to Foxy's was Tony & Lela's. Nice older couple. Always had the coldest longnecks around.

Who is this Whipper you speak of, not E.B. by any chance?
