No need to suck 9 other weiners at a chef's table to do that.

The last time i went my waiter was a cocky prick who spent 90% of his time chatting it up with what seemed like two tables of regulars. One of which included some old fat man wearing a windsuit who dragged himself from the table every 20 minutes to go outside and smoke. Therefore I got to smell cig smoke the entire meal.

That being said the food was great. That crab cheese cake app is real good and the cedar plank redfish is real good.

How do you make a reservation for the Chef's table and what kind of prices are we talking about?

It is my understanding that you can just call in and make arrangements for a Chef's Table. I have never eaten at one myself but my parents have and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think the price varies on how many courses and whether or not wine is included. I would offer more details but I am not a big fan of talking about stuff I don't know a whole lot about. My recommendation would be to call and find out.

It can and cannot be a specific physical table, it depends on the restaurant. And it depends on how accomodating they want to be. You ought to be able to get a reasonable nights reservation.

We ate "chef table" service and food at Emerils once when they double booked the table for the night in 1997. The man himself, served us every course in the center of the dining room. We had a great time, and not sitting at the physical table was not a downer because Emeril made it a great experience.

EDIT: the cost there was more than double a few hundred for four of us, but we had a lot of good wine. I don't think Ruffinos is that expensive, but it will depend on what your bar tab ends up.

Ruffino's is good stuff. When he sings it always cracks me up. Definitely a top 10 spot in BR.

We ate in the kitchen at the chef's table at Emeril's on Sunday night. There were 4 of us. Two ordered apps and entrees off the menu while the other two of us had the chef feed us which was an amuse, 5 courses some of which were almost entree size (I couldn't eat half of what we had because there was so much food) and a barrage of desserts which were 3 sorbets, 3 ice creams, banana cream pie, pecan pie, some other type of torte and freshly baked too hot to pick up chocolate chip cookies and something else I can't recall. We had cocktails and wine, but no bottles. Bill for 4 was $288 with tax, before tip. It was a steal.
