do you have an air compressor and paint gun? How did you do the top coat?

can of spray paint. The gray is high heat primer then I top coated it with high heat black and didn't like how it looked. I saw krylon was ok up to 200 deg so I went with the gloss dark(er) red to match my patio furniture.

See pic below. I'm trying to figure out a way to hold the grill about 1.5" below the lid. The fire box was cracked to the guy put a thin wall pipe with tabs and a steel grate to keep the charcoal off the bottom. What he was doing was just placing the grill on the pipe. I want to cut the pipe down some and suspend the grill somehow (because i feel that the areas outside the pipe aren't getting good heat).
My first idea was to drill a few locations and put small bolts sticking and place the grill on that. This would probably be adequate for simple grilling, but if i put a few pounds of meat on there for a slow cook, it might not be strong enough. Any other thoughts?
And here's a pic with the top reinstalled...

You could just cut slits or drill holes in the pipe so the heat can get out.

I thought about that but that doesn't raise the grill any.

If you want to put any money into it you could probably replace the missing parts with BGE parts. Firebox.
I might be wrong though. I don't own a BGE.
