I have boiled shrimp for a group of 10+ three times this year. Always used X-Large head on shrimp. 1.5lbs per person. Had a few leftover twice, and ran a pound or two short the third. I always cook corn & pot too.

they were decent size head off shrimp.

a pound maybe 2 per person is safe

Really appreciate all the thoughts. We're looking at about 20-24 people showing up so I just reserved 32 pounds. It's going to be mostly guys but we'll have plenty of other stuff to eat so I would be surprised if that wasn't enough.

Can't wait for Saturday to get here. We had that day planned for the party a couple weeks ago and it worked out perfectly with LSU playing at 6 PM in the CWS.

should be enough...between the other fixings and the beer, people will get full quickly. And shrimp is not a light food...it is easy to get filled up on it.

I agree. You should be fine with other food and drink available. Shrimp is heavier, to me, than crawfish. I will eat more in peeled meat weight of crawfish than I will of boiled shrimp, though I love both.

Sounds like a good time. I'll bring an appetizer if you give me the address.
