What would be the best way to transport a case of canned beer cross-country?

I'm flying out to visit a friend in other state who has requested I bring him a case of a certain beer which does not distribute out where he lives.

Would I be better off trying to put it in a checked bag on my flight, or shipping it via UPS/Fed-Ex?

I would ship it.

Although I’ve definitely brought an extra suitcase for the sole purpose of bringing back beer.

But depending on who you fly with, shipping will probably be cheaper and easier.

Box it up and check it in as luggage. Piece of cake

I'm flying American, so it's $30/bag. He offered to pay for checking an additional bag if need be. The question was more about which method would better keep the cans from busting en-route.
