Another’s thread about maple syrup reminded me of this. It’s made by steeping the bark, then adding sugar and reducing. You do not use the tree sap. It produces a mild, slightly Smokey, maple-ish flavor. A fun project and worth the effort.

So, shagbark tea, and it has some natural sugar. How much bark. I have a real hate for shagbarks having made bad decisions with a climbing stand in the past. If they have any positive at all, I'm interested.

I don’t recall a specific amount of bark, but it’s strictly for flavor. You have to add sugar for sweetness. I would assume more bark more flavor to a point before it could become astringent. Just a guess.
