Because they don't take a debit card, downgrade them.
The name is unoriginal, another downgrade.
I have fat legs and touch the underside of a table, downgrade.
So far I have made my decision on this place and haven't placed an order.
fricking right I would try to set the record straight to a bunch of fricknuts playing keyboard critic.

I don't get the hate a lot of you have for this place. I used to be in there weekly and always enjoyed myself. Sure it can be slow but I don't go there expecting to be in and out, it's more of a day drinking spot to me. The bartender Joe has always taken care of us and is always hooking up free drinks. The food is pretty damn good as well.
I don't know why the owner would go and put all that on the Internet though. A large part of the crowd that goes there are pretty much regulars

What is the point of pissing in a baloon if I don't get to throw it.
Same small percentage make NOLA look crime ridden and south louisiana like swamp people.

Are we reading the same thread? 95% of the criticism is this:

WOW!!!! I didn't realize this would be such a hot topic and I believe I now need to respond and explain my words on Yelp.
I do not have an ax to grind with niknik. I simply can't stand Yelp and the public forum it has become. As a business owner, I get calls from Yelp advertising weekly and I choose to not be extorted by them. They claim to NOT manipulate reviews but if one pays close attention, there are 5 reviews that are NOT recommended (all of which are good reviews by mostly reputable Yelpers) and somehow, the 1 star reviews with no face are prominently posted.
Niknik, by your review, I was evidently serving you when you were here. I wish you would have brought the damages done to your tights to my attention. I certainly would have found some way to take care of that issue for you. We strive to make our guests happy while they are in our care but when one takes to Yelp, after the fact, there's not much I can do. Your Yelp page clearly states that you do not want to be contacted by business owners. Maybe you're not aware of that. I'm trying to post a screen shot for you but it's not showing up.
I certainly don't want to drive business away but I also want to bring some levity to the "bad" reviews on Yelp. I can't make customers read the entire menu. That's up to them. When the menu says something has honey, one would expect that to be sweetish. Overly sweet??? Let me know and I can fix it! Lines at the counter??? Every poboy shop has that. We don't do table service so I can't fix that. I know Kevin at The Milk Bar and I'm a huge fan. He does some great things and I eat there quite often, I also eat at Jimmy John's and Subway. They both do great jobs! We aren't that kind of place and it's irritating to be compared. Sorta like comparing the Saints and the Pelicans, they're both sports teams but that's as far as it goes.
Bottom line is Yelp is an extortion ring, and I'm not the only owner that feels that way. Google "Billion Dollar Bully" and you'll see what I mean. To me, bad Yelp reviews give me a chance to rant about customers that don't have the stones to just simply say, "I didn't really enjoy my meal." to my face. I WANT REPEAT CUSTOMERS and will actually bend over backwards to retain someone's business or, at the very least, get them to try us again. The only exception to that is when is when the customer takes to Yelp. Then...keep reading Yelp. One way or another, to my credit or my demise, you'll get a chuckle.
I've enjoyed the reading and actually, niknik, I'll be addressing the tables shortly.
Thank you all!

Don't worry dude, niknik reviews are kind of a joke to me now. His/her ability to review a restaurant with no context just makes me laugh.

Perhaps you just answered you own question. Maybe there's a clique mentality that the owner feeds off of and if you don't blindly buy in then you're not welcome back. A with us or against us mentality is a really stupid way to run a business.

I kinda skimmed the first page before my iPad died. My bad

Does Joe still work there? I haven't been by in like a month or so. He was one of the main reasons I enjoyed eating and drinking there.

Yep, an idiot, moron, and just a plain dumb arse some times! Just ask my wife...and sometimes, I enjoy stirring the pot! Just read my Yelp.

So fricking take it up with Yelp then. Don't berate or mock a person who gave you their money just because dislike the medium by which they chose to express an opinion. But then again I guess a grown man who views people who write innocent online thoughts about food as not having "the stones" probably has other issues that force him to take out his frustration in a childish manner.

You admitting to your idiocy won't get my business. Even though I love lobster and sweet stuff.
This would have been right up my alley. I'll have to put it on my menu next year.

Let's not let blind hate get in the way of facts. My wife also owns a business in uptown New Orleans. She has yelp also calling her every week. You realize you can pick up the phone and call yelp back to ask why those reviews aren't showing up instead of just hating them on the Internet.
Regardless, of your 5 reviews not listed, 4 of the 5 "reputable" yelpers have a combined 5 total reviews 4 of them from your restaurant.
My wife's business has 4 5-star reviews also hidden. It's because they have only reviewed Her place and no other businesses.
Yelp is a wonderful website if used properly and you are coming across as a huge condescending jerk with you responses to customer complaints. I would suggest deleting all your posts for the sake of your business. Just my personal suggestion but from a consumer's standpoint, I had no issues giving it a try until I read how you treated the folks criticizing your place.

Your explanation for your yelp responses kinda makes it worse.
Let your food do the talking and stay off of social media
