Giamonico's on Govt - good italian and they had a good filet mignon that was very inexpensive compared to a steak house.

No it didn't. She became quite sick beacause of botulism, but she recovered.

Joe D's had a sandwich, a chicken loaf which was a take off on Bernard's Chicken loaf. It was a fried chicken on a loaf of French bread. Fantastic!!!!! but bnot a poboy. Please don't try to describe a Kiss concert if you've never been there (J Buffett)

Mae's Cafe..... I went to Sacdred Heaqrt Elementary school and Mae's was on 22nd St. $.25 would buy you 3 biscuitss and a coke after Mass. Tony's donut shoppe was just down the street. Life was greatt......

I miss China Express also, if you asked for it "over the top" they would serve your dish on top of the rice, the way we cajuns like it. Also extra spicy kicked up any dish.

Beware of Chinese pickups with pictures of the dishes on the wall, always a bad sign.

Mae's was on 21st St. between North St. & Gayosa. Sacred Heart is on 22.
My grandparents had a store on the same block. I ate many a hamburger and roast beef poboy there.
