That is one instance where hubby couldn't possibly have any trace of jealousy.

Hey Brock, I really impressed a very important guy at my job today because I knew what Alinea was. It was great.

Really?! How did that ever come up?!

(Quick side note - did you read about Next doing an El Bulli menu? How I wish...)

He mentioned how he had dinner at The French Laundry recently of which I also knew about. Then he said he loved it but his meal at Alinea was even better. (yeah, my mouth was pretty much on the floor at this point.) I asked if he had dessert off the table and he goes "you really DO know about it!"

He told me two other restaurants he went to this year that were up there but I didn't know those and now I can't remember.

Oh and I've heard bits and pieces about the el Bulli thing. Haven't really read up on it yet. One day when I'm this man's age, I'll probably go there (he's in his eightes).

One of my oldest and closest friends lives in the Bay Area - I could certainly stay at his house, and he could afford the meal, but he'd have pretty much zero interest in the French Laundry.

Oh well, there's always Per Se and a bunch of others!
